Virginia Native Perennials
Did you know that you can feed native pollinators, build habitats, and help support biodiversity across Virginia from your very own yard? It's as easy as incorporating Virginia native plants into your landscape.
Below, you'll find perennials that are native to the state of Virginia. Included on this list are some cultivars (cultivated varieties) and naturally-occurring hybrids that vary only slightly from the parent species. Some native gardeners choose to incorporate cultivars into their plantings and some do not. You can identify these plants by the addition of an extra name in apostrophes (such as 'May Breeze').
This list was compiled using DCR's Virginia native plant database.
